Using Xrm.Copilot.executeEvent to bring Copilot Studio into Your Model-Driven App

Modern business applications now leverage AI to provide insights, but users often need to manually integrate data from multiple records. The preview Client API, Xrm.Copilot.executeEvent, facilitates this by enabling client-side JavaScript in model-driven apps to interact with Copilot Studio topics, pass business data, and receive structured AI-generated responses. This allows AI-driven reasoning to be integrated into forms, ribbon buttons, or PCF controls. Key benefits include triggering Copilot Studio topics via JavaScript, handling custom business data, and retrieving structured responses rather than conversational text. While ideal for AI-powered insights and summarization, this feature is currently a preview and not suitable for production use. It provides automatic context variables like record ID, table name, and app context to simplify integration. The API supports scenarios that require AI-assisted decision-making but should be carefully evaluated in test settings before considering production implementation.
