Power Pages: Dataverse at its Core

The Power Platform is constantly evolving, and Dataverse should be at the core of any Power Platform implementation. Power Pages, formerly known as Power Apps Portals, is built on top of Dataverse, and advancements in virtual tables emphasize the importance of Dataverse. Virtual tables allow you to define the schema of a table, including its columns, while the actual data resides elsewhere. The virtual connector provider allows you to use connectors as the data source for your virtual tables. This new architecture isn't about adding new functionality directly to Power Pages, but rather supporting functionality that exists in Dataverse. The use of virtual tables is expected to grow exponentially, giving you many of the benefits of being in Dataverse without having to pay for all the storage.
