Security Audit Trail Feature in D365FO

Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations has a native feature called Security Audit Trail that tracks changes made to security layers via configuration. It compares different versions of security layers and shows any changes in permissions. However, it does not capture changes made to security via code. The article suggests improving the reporting of the Security Audit Trail functionality by providing an overview of role/duty/privilege association changes and direct permission changes between security layer versions. The author has created a customization called Fastpath Security Comparison that provides this overview information and allows exporting to an Excel file. Overall, the Security Audit Trail feature is useful for tracking configuration changes but does not cover changes made via code.
