Dynamics 365 Business Central: using the standalone MCP Server provided as part of the AL Development Tools.

The AL Development Tools package provides a cross-platform solution for handling Dynamics 365 Business Central AL extensions outside of Visual Studio Code, utilizing NuGet for compiling, packaging, and management tasks. It's specifically designed to facilitate automation in CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions by enabling operations like building, signing, and deploying without requiring a full GUI installation. The latest version introduces the launchmcpserver command to start an HTTP-based MCP server needed by coding agents to access AL development tools. The command supports optional parameters for server configuration. Tools available via AI agents include building projects, debugging, downloading symbols, and publishing packages, all designed to streamline AL development workflows. These AI-assisted tools are experimental and could evolve in future releases, offering enhanced integration and efficiency for AL projects.
