Power Platform Low-Code Plugins: A Step Forward or Sideways?
Microsoft is introducing Power Platform Low-Code Plugins to bring more low-code automation into Dataverse without requiring full-scale C# development. However, there are concerns about the limitations and challenges of using Power FX, the formula language used in Canvas Apps, for defining business logic in the Dataverse backend. The documentation for Power FX is lacking and the debugging and developer tools are limited. This approach risks creating a fragmented development experience and complicating long-term maintainability. It may not be the right evolution for reducing friction in extending Dataverse. The author suggests proceeding with caution and sticking to the pro-code approach for now.
