Enhancing Power Apps Grids with Custom Column Visualizations
In Power Apps, Custom Column Visualizations offer a simplified way to display numerical data as Radial Dials, Line Charts, Heat Maps, or Star Ratings directly in grid columns, eliminating the need for custom PCF controls or web resources. This feature allows users to configure visualizations through Advanced Options on column properties, applying the changes automatically across all grids or views utilizing that column. Each visualization type requires specific data formats for accurate depiction, such as comma-separated values for Line Charts or whole numbers for Radial Dials and Star Ratings. Though currently a preview feature, it provides an efficient native alternative for visualizing data without additional development work, reducing the need for custom development while maintaining flexibility for unique requirements. However, for scenarios demanding custom visualization or interactivity beyond native offerings, PCF controls and web resources remain valid solutions. The approach has transitioned from complex development processes to simpler visualization selection and configuration within Power Apps.
