Microsoft is making significant changes to Dynamics 365 Business Central with the 2025 release Wave 1 clean-up. This clean-up will permanently delete tables, table extensions, and table fields that have been in the Obsolete::Removed state for more than one major release. The clean-up aims to improve database performance, unify Base Applications, improve maintainability, and streamline the codebase. Microsoft will adopt a clean-up cycle every fifth release to ensure a smooth transition. Developers should refactor their code, check upgrade code, and monitor preprocessor symbols to prepare for the clean-up. The cloud migration path will also change, and Microsoft recommends using the Point-In-Time Restore procedure for data recovery from removed tables. Partners can find additional resources and join Office Hour calls for more information.
