ALM a la Rapp – Evolve Power Platform delivery

ALM stands for Application Lifecycle Management, which involves keeping track of everything needed for software development and generating everything automatically. In the Power Platform area, ALM is often overlooked because exporting and importing solutions seems sufficient. However, this approach can lead to problems such as unmanaged solutions and inconsistent installations. It is important to understand the concept of ALM and its five main slices: Develop, Build, Test, Deploy, and Release. The Develop slice involves setting up the data model, forms, apps, and more. It is crucial to commit everything to source control and use a .gitignore file to avoid committing unnecessary files. The Build slice focuses on pre-testing and creating an artifact for the next stage. Pipelines are used to automate these processes.
