Masking sensitive data in Dataverse
Microsoft has released a new feature in the 2024 Power Platform Release Wave 1 that allows users to create secured fields and mask certain parts of the field based on regular expressions. This feature eliminates the need for custom scripts and provides the ability to display only specific parts of sensitive data on forms without exporting the full data. The feature includes two new components called Attribute Masking rule and Secured Masking rule. Users can create a Secured Masking rule by providing a name, display name, description, regular expression, and masked character. They can then create a secured field and map it to the rule. The masked data will be displayed on forms and views, and even when exported to Excel. This feature adds an extra layer of security by allowing users to see only the necessary information.
