#MSDynGP SQL Server 2025 Default Password Verifiers Causing Slow Microsoft Dynamics GP Performance
After upgrading to SQL Server 2025, Microsoft Dynamics GP users have reported significant performance issues due to new security features. SQL Server 2025 introduces iterated and salted password verifiers using PBKDF2, which causes login slowdowns for Dynamics GP, heavily reliant on SQL authentication. This new hashing method is computationally intensive, leading to latency in short-lived connections and increased SQL CPU load. While PBKDF2 enhances security against brute-force attacks, it impacts Dynamics GP's performance, causing slow logins and system freezes. A potential fix involves using Trace Flag 4671 to revert to the legacy SHA-1 hashing, although it requires Microsoft support approval due to its unofficial status.
