Microsoft has launched a new way to develop apps in the Power Platform through vibe.powerapps.com, introducing the concept of vibe coding. This approach allows users to create apps using natural language prompts and can be likened to Agile methodologies. Users can start by selecting a preferred environment and creating a solution to host their vibe coded apps. Two main strategies for vibe coding are identified: getting the initial prompt right and evolving the solution over time. In practice, creating a chess app demonstrated the process of iterative development through vibe code, where initial creation of a chess board app required refinements and prompts to configure legal moves and enhance AI gameplay. Challenges remain in application lifecycle management and editing generated code, but vibe coding shows promise in rapid prototyping. Despite current limitations, this approach might open new possibilities for organizations to develop apps internally while still relying on external support for complex issues.
