The long-awaited Long term retention feature for Dataverse is now in public preview. This feature is beneficial for users working with larger customers who have a lot of data and want to reduce costs. However, it is not recommended for production use at this time. Users are encouraged to try out the functionality and provide feedback to Microsoft. The cost of storing data in long-term storage is still unknown, but it is expected to be closer to file storage costs rather than database storage costs. Overall, this feature is a significant development for Dataverse users.
